It Should be Fun; Choosing Attire for Flower Girl and Ring Bearer

Finding clothing for the flower girl and ring bearer is easy—the colors should reflect the wedding colors chosen by the bride. These days many brides are choosing all black or all white, foregoing the colors altogether.

It isn’t hard to get flowers in just about any shade, as they can be dyed or sprayed in the correct color. Call the florist ahead for special orders.

The flower girl’s basket should fit her size. Most craft stores carry a variety of baskets and the tiny silk flowers and ribbons to decorate them. A good place to look for completed and ready-to-use baskets are stores that specialize in wedding supplies or dresses.

Accents for the hair can be found in just about any store that carries accessories, and a bride can choose from diamond-looking accents or colors that match, or even small fake wedding rings. Don’t choose anything large or off-color for the hair.

Ring bearers are usually boys. However, anything goes these days for both sexes. A girl ring bearer should have her dress and hair done to match the flower girl. The boy ring bearer’s hair should also be neat, like the men in the wedding party. The ring bearer should also wear a tux or other garment that matches the men in the wedding party; if they wear white tuxes, so should the ring bearer.

The satin pillow for the wedding rings should be white or match the wedding colors. These pillows can be easily made, inherited from a previous wedding, or bought in specialty stores. The ribbon to tie the wedding rings on can be white or colored and is also found in craft or sewing stores.

It shouldn’t be hard to dress a flower girl and ring bearer—simply use the bride’s chosen colors. Style hair and clothing to match the wedding party’s attire. Find the basket and pillow in a craft store or wedding specialty store.
Enjoy the wedding!
